It didn't exactly go perfectly (wait, I have to wait in a 2 mile line to pick up my kid?!) and a lot of things were brand new, but it was worth it all to hear my boy talk excitedly about his first day.
Before I get started, let me just apologize beforehand. Since I home school one, and chauffeur two others to school and other functions I am still trying to iron out how to accomplish everything on the schedule. My posts may be a bit sporadic compared to the summer but after a few weeks we should have this figured out!
I'm so excited about this post! Aren't I always? Frankly, I wouldn't pass any fun craft onto you that I wouldn't be willing to use myself. So when I came up with a very simple and cool way to personalize our bags I knew you had to know!
We had been talking about what to paint onto my boys' bag for a few weeks. I was hoping for something classic and he was wanting the latest superheros.
Our happy collaboration was finger painting! You can't go wrong with that, right?
All you need is:
- 3 colors of acrylic paint (coordinating with the bag)
- a backpack
To determine what colors to use, you can certainly do that by yourself! If you feel like you need a bit of guidance, visit this site: http://www.sessions.edu/color-calculator that allows you to choose the main color of the bag and what kind of scheme you want (how many colors). It chooses the right colors automatically!
Next comes the easy part. Put a squirt of each color onto a plate (or in my case a lid) and start dabbing! Alternate colors until the entire surface is colored and try to get each color evenly spread across. If you start seeing an ugly grey/brown (it happens) then allow that section to dry and dab right on top of it!
After I painted that section I stuck his name on top and outlined it with a contrasting color. This step wasn't necessary but added that "special" touch to make it his!
If you have a special way to let your kiddo know you care while they are away, I would love to hear about it!
